It is recommended that at 36 weeks you pack your hospital bag. Here's a list of things that you should take:

Essential stuff Labor & Delivery
  • Cash - for a taxi
  • Hospital name and address in Chinese
  • Pre-natal records
  • ID Cards - of both parents
  • Insurance card and details
  • Drs contact info (Gyno and Pediatrician)
  • Video camera, camera w/ extra film
  • Notepad and pen to record the labor
  • Birth Plan

  • Eyeglasses/contact lenses, solution
  • Hairband (to tie long hair)
  • Lotion for coach's massage
  • Lip balm
  • Socks
  • Reading material, games, music
  • Evian sprtizer

Post Delivery Post Delivery
Mum
  • Toiletries and make-up
  • Sanitary Pads - long, winged, night use
  • Inflatable ring to sit on
  • Nursing bras/pads
  • Nightgowns or nursing gowns
  • Slippers
  • Loose going home clothes

Dad

  • Change of clothes and toiletries
  • Cash, keys
  • Phone calls list

Baby

  • Receiving Blanket
  • Burp cloths
  • Booties and mittens

Hospital Staff

  • Small gifts, little boxes of chocolate

Government Hospital - A couple of extra items if you are delivering in a Public Hospital
  • Waterproof under pads (available at Wing On Dept Store or Ah Chi Co near Tsan Yuk Hospital
  • Maternity Pads - old style with belt + Sanitary Pads (long + winged)
  • Disposable Maternity Panties
  • Toilet Paper
  • Plastic Cups for drinking water
  • New born Diapers + Wipes
  • Alcohol Pads/ Cotton buds for cleaning umbilical cord
