Annerley Breastfeeding Workshop
Thursday, October 16 2008, 12:00 - 14:00 by Hulda

Annerley - Breastfeeding Workshop

What is it and what will I learn?
A 2 hour session, designed and conducted by a registered midwife and lactation consultant.  The workshop is designed to give a good introduction of how to prepare for breastfeeding and have realistic and practical expectations before giving birth.  It focuses on the positive sides of breastfeeding at the same time of addressing common challenges that parents might face when breastfeeding a baby.  The anatomy and physiology of the breast and breastfeeding is explained.  Common myths and misunderstandings will be discussed and explained and there is plenty of space to ask questions as well as to practice what is needed.  You will see a video about breastfeeding.

Is there anything I need to know more, or do before the workshop?
Best is if you have done some reading before attending the class.  If you are booking your breastfeeding workshop in conjunction with other classes, such as a HYPNOBIRTHING COURSE, you will already have received a manual that has relevant material to read.  Otherwise, the book the WOMANLY ART OF BREASTFEEDING is a very good source of information.

When is a good time to do the workshop and who is it for?
Parents that are already attending the BABIES AND BEYOND classes need not to register for this workshop since it is included in the B&B course.  Others, such as parents that are attending HYPNOBIRTHING course or simply want more information about breastfeeding should consider attending the workshop.  Second time mothers are welcome as well, and those that have done antenatal classes  elsewhere, but feel they need a little more information about breastfeeding.  We suggest to attend the Breastfeeding workshop anytime after 28 weeks of pregnancy.
