Ladybird Lessons Helper Training in Child Development

Helper Training Sessions on all aspects of Child Development and Activities for the home.

Session 1 - Introducing child development and the needs of the pre-school child from babies to 6 years old.

Session 2 - Planning a balance of activities during the day to stimulate your child and help them develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Session 3 - Early Language and Literacy Ideas. The devlopmental stages of speaking, reading and writing for young children. How to help your child develop early reading and writing skills. How to read with a child. The importance of phonics. Including 30 take home activities.

Session 4 - Creativity, Physical Development and the World Around. How to provide home activities which help physical development and promote interest in the world around them and early scientific concepts. Creative ideas for art and craft activities. Including 30 take home activities.

Session 5 - Personal and Social Development - How your helper can encourage your child to make friends and behave appropriately. Including managing safety on trips out of the house.

Session 6 - Understanding how children develop early maths ideas. Developing understanding of children's maths development and how to support it with activities and games at home. 30 take home activities included.

The aim of these is not to turn your helpers into teachers but to enable them to make the most of the learning opportunities that arise naturally at home. Since helpers are often the main care givers at home we feel it is really important that they understand child development and can provide the right sort of activities at home. This will give your child a head start for school which can be especially important if you are hoping they will go to an International school.
