Bumps to Babes
Sandra & Evan, 2004-03-01

Generally they've got everything you need. New location in Central (Pedder Building) makes it much more convenient.

We also had an experience where we wanted to buy a stroller, but the last one left was the one on display. Since they wouldn't offer us a discount on that one, we decided to wait for the next shipment of new ones. They said they'd call us to let us know when the shipment arrives, but never heard from them again.

Selection

They have a pretty good stock of furniture, baby needs, maternity and ELC toys. The best thing I ever bought there was the Sangenic nappy bin. Basically I think they are a good one stop shop for importers baby goods.

Just another shop

I think the fact that it carries most essentials under one roof is a plus. However I cannot say much about the customer service. I wanted to order something which is not carried by the store and had requested (the owner) to check whether I could order through the store. Gave details etc but have not heard a word that was 6 months ago. Gives the impression that if it is any trouble or not much money to be made they will not bother.

Too Expensive

Everyone kept telling me that it's expensive to have a baby in HK. I didn't know how expensive until I visited B2B. The store seems to only carry European and American brands and none of the less expensive, but just as good alternatives from Asia. The items also suggest that their core shoppers live in enormous places and drive enormous cars. Everything is heavy and bulky - not at all suitable for the average HK apartment or lifestyle.

My own experience with Bumps to Babes

I'll have to give them a higher rating.I think they are brilliant. They have almost all you could need or desire for your little angel and more. Also if they on the off chance don't have something then they'll usually order it for you.
Another huge plus that they keep almost everything in stock so you can pay and take it right home. Most places make you wait (e-babyasia is always a few weeks wait for us!)
I know it's a bit out of the way but if you're bringing baby they have great changing facilities and breastfeeding areas.

Bumps to Babes

Bumps to babes offers a wide selection of products, which has grown since they expanded their outlet recently. While its not a super-store by American standards, its definately one of the bigger stores in HK.

The cons are ...
-- Bad location. Unless you have a car or are willing to spend a fair bit on a cab ride, B2B is not the place for you to go. The folks who run the parking lot at New Horizon have a horrible attitude and are down right rude.

-- Average pricing. Their pricing is no better or worse than most other stores. We've found comparable pricing at Eugene and Toys R Us.

Overall, I'd say its definately worth making atleast ONE trip and deciding for yourself.
