If you at all know how to sew, these are very easy to make. My friend made one for me when my son was born and although I wasn't very fond of using it (found it to be more hassle than it was worth--I preferred using an ordinary blanket) it was the same as the one you buy in the store. There is a lot of info. online as well as patterns on how to make one but here is just one site:
