I hope this is the right place. For anyone not familiar with term "sharenting" it refers to mums and dads that share pictures of their kids on online social networks. My partner and I will be first-time parents in August, and sharenting has already become an issue of contention between us.

To give you some context my partner is an outgoing extrovert, who love being in photographs and shares thousands of pictures of her life on social networks. Being a super proud mum-to-be, she is really excited about the prospect of posting lots of pictures online of our future child. My partner is Indonesian and I have noticed that young Indonesians have really embraced social networking, so her friends, siblings and colleagues all regularly post their daily lives, including their kids, on social networks. By contrast I am an introvert. I have come round to social networking because it helps me keep in touch with friends and family back in NZ, and have even learnt to smile and post a few pictures online, but i am still not completely comfortable with it and many of my kiwi friends still refuse to use social networks because of privacy concerns.

I have brought up my concerns about sharenting with my partner and have sent her newspaper articles on the various dangers of sharenting – and have also tried to emphasize that putting pictures of a child online takes away that child's right to control their own public image when they are older. However, after several discussion its clear that we just don't see eye-to-eye on this issue. Even when i have proposed compromises, like posting pictures by email to family members or limiting posts to once a month, I can tell she thinks I am raining on her parade. As we were contemplating the public vs private decision, we were almost certain we would go the public route after visiting Queen Mary due to the cost and medical facilities available should that need arise. However, we were told that they do not participate with blood cord banking. I have a sort of random question. I'm expecting my first baby in October. I know that if I have either an epidural during vaginal delivery or an emergency c-section, the nurses will have to put a catheter in to empty my bladder. I'm aware there are 1,001 other things to worry about during birth, and there will probably be things that are a lot more painful going on at the time, but for some reason, the thought of a catheter really freaks me out.

Is it horribly painful? Is it not as bad as I imagine? I guess I'd just like to know if it's something I need to worry about or not such a big deal.

We are hoping to move to HK in January but my daughter has multiple food allergies and we're not sure if this might stop us. We can manage them in the UK but would really appreciate any help from anyone with similar issues. She is allergic to egg, milk, nuts & soya (she is type 2-4 allergic so not anaphylactic but still has very unpleasant reactions).
Does anybody know if we can easily but Oatly milk in HK as that is a staple part of her diet?

My new helper went today, but found out she needs to go back next week to get her photo taken. (Why they can't do both at one time is beyond me). And, after that, it's about a month processing time.

It's a motorola one, but keeps loosing its signal. It sometimes looses it upto 6 times in one hour. We tend to have 2 days where it's fine then one night where it just keeps loosing signal. 1) For now, I'm planning to do the public-private hybrid route: give birth in QMH but supplement with private visits. I understand that I won't be able to choose the doc that delivers or a private ward (so my husband can stay over if need be) - is that correct?
And to what extent does that matter? Do the cost savings (I have a HK ID card and so presumably will spend HK$1,000 or so versus HK$40,000 thereabouts from what I read; the former option will be an enormous help, finance-wise) make up for lack of relationship building with the doc, privacy and bonding time with the infant in the initial days etc? I am especially concerned if we are curtailed in the time we can have our baby in the ward with us...
2) I have had a referral to Dr Yan Choi Man from Asia clinic in TST to help with supplementary visits. Was wondering if anyone had gone to him and has feedback either way?
