It seems that I cannot hire a helper unless I have a HK ID. I am in the process of getting an ID but apparently it takes a few months. Do I have any options for help in the meantime?

You can look up Merrymaids on the internet. Last time I looked they only served HK island area.

There are also the local Chinese helpers who are paid hourly but you need to be able to communicate in Chinese since most of them don't speak English. You can find out about them on the Gov. website.

I can recommend some good part timers you could use in the meantime. We used them waiting for our helper's papers to be processed.
