I understand that the 20 week scan gives you between a 95-99% chance of accuracy for sex prediction, so it is like all tests imperfect but a giant leap over not knowing.
With regards to the 4D ultrasound, I found the images produced a little bit eerie but that is a personal opinion. The usual 2D scan is the medically recommended scan for detecting foetal abnormalities at present not the more expensive and fancier 4D (although some radiology places are trying to promote it)
