Rads,

Lots of places to get baby furntiure in HK, to meet every budget.

Have a look at O/3 Baby, Eugene, Chicco.

Jacadi and Bumps to Babes have some beautiful items.

If you're looking for no-frills try Ikea.

Don't forget second hand & borrowing

Don't forget second hand stuff.

My first baby, I borrowed a "Moses basket" from a friend whose daughter was already 2 years old.

My second baby I borrowed a basked from another friend who was "between babies" (I returned it before her next one was born).

You can often find used cot/cribs for sale in the SCMP's "Trading Post" or in the Dollar Saver or posted on supermarket bulletin boards.

If you don't have a big flat, look in the baby sections of local department stores like Sincere or Wing On or Japanese department stores like Jusco or Uny, or Chinese department stores like Yue Wah or CRC. The reason I mention that is because some of the baby furniture that I[ve seen at placed like Mothercare are about the same size as my kids entire bedroom.

In fact, Wing On is having a sale right now on baby stuff

And so is Jusco

Store locations are listed here:

Seiyu in Sha Tin (if you live in the NT) has some OK stuff and carried my favorite line of toddler clothes "Say Yas".

BQ Baby

Whatever you do don't go to BQ Baby. I've just had a dreadful experience there where they wouldn't let me cancel an order for some nursery furniture. I've lost my deposit due to their utter incompetence and inability to deal with customers professionally. Their products aren't that great anyway, wish I'd never set foot in the shop!!

Unfortunately it is common Hong Kong practice to refuse exchanges and refunds. They will push you to buy things by saying they don't have much stock left and you better buy fast etc. etc..

Fifi,

That's terrible!

If you paid by credit card do you think you can ask the bank to help you recover your deposit? I had a dispute with a travel agent 2 years ago and I informed the bank. I had to provide them with supporting documentation that I had been overcharged and I was refunded the money immediately. The merchant tried to challenge the bank, but was unsuccessful.

What are you going to do now for furniture? If you're looking for 2nd hand, contact the La Leche League they tend to receive donations from time to time.

Rani
