Helper's holiday
my helper just started working a month ago for me. There are many holidays coming up. I know that she has to work at least 3 months before she is entitled to paid holidays. But does this mean that she still has to take the holiday off and not get paid or can she just continue to work on the holiday as usual? Does anyone know what the labour rules are in HK?

Why not just give her paid time off?

doesn't the three months refer to paid holidays rather than public holidays? i would have assumed that everyone is entitled to the public holidays off or pay in lieu of...my helper will be starting at the end on january...with CNY falling within 2 weeks of her beginning... assuming that i don't go into labour during that time, i have no problem with her taking the days off (paid)...

Helpers are entitled to statutory holidays.
