Hi Shaz,

Yes, helpers get statutory holidays. Here's the list of holidays. That's why most families tend to travel during CNY.

the first day of January;
Lunar New Year's Day;
the second day of Lunar New Year;
the third day of Lunar New Year;
Ching Ming Festival;
the first day of May;
Tuen Ng Festival;
the day following the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival;
Chung Yeung Festival;
Chinese Winter Solstice Festival or Christmas Day (at the option of the employer);
the first day of July; and
the first day of October.

ok, so if you are stuck here with the family and no helper, what are some good things to do, both in advance and during the holidays?

Shaz,

Officially its not a holiday, but most employers give helpers time off to attend Easter mass etc.

The Labour Department web site has specific dates for the official Statutory Holidays that all employees are entitled to and how the rules apply:

http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/news/la...lidays2005.htm

Hope this helps.
