Baby Eczema
I would appreaciate recommendation for good baby dermatologists in HK side.
My son appears to have all the signs of baby eczema and while I have been following home care tips like baby detergent, non-perfumed baby bath, cotton clothes etc, the skin rash doesn't seem to be getting any better and so I want for a specialist to see him already.
Thanks!

How old is your son Lylah?
My daughter also had this problem during the first 5 months of her life. Personally, I think it's due to the weather condition in HK - being humid and polluted, but there's nothing much we can do about that, can't we? Try to dress him lightly, lower your aircon temperature (basically just avoid him to sweat), bathe him in room temperature (not warm water).
I took my daughter to half a dozen of paedi and dermatologist. Depends on how desperate you are for the medication. Desperate, they'll give you hidrocortisone cream. Not very desperate, I've been explained over and over and over that some children (usually born to allergic parent) have high skin sensitivy. One dermatologist put it this way: it takes an elephant to break our alarm system, but these children, an ant is enough. I hope you understand :-P And I was also told that it would go away as they grow. Of course, at that time, I refused to except this explanation, but that's the fact....
My daughter got over her eczema, when we took her to Europe for holiday, thus temperature was lower and pollution likewise. She's 4 now and still get eczema evry now and then, especially during summer (when she sweats). I always keep the air con temperature at about 22-24C for her. Even in her bed room.
I hope my explanation can give you another insight of the problem your son is having!
Good Luck!

Hello, Lylah.
I would like to recommend to see a homeopath.
My son also has eczema he is 3 now, eczema is really related to other fuction of the body like asthma. I think you don't have to put any medical cream on her skin.
anyway I think it's better if you can treat her by natural way.

my son also suffers from it - have been prescribed hydracortisone & elomet by PD which he uses when it gets itchy, red & swollen (which is once a week on average). I wld however really like to try the natural creams if u have recommendations as I'm v uncomfortable using steriod cream on one so young.

thanks for all the thoughts!
we've seen dermatologists in the past and like some of you have experienced have been prescribed hydrocortisone (which i don't particularly feel comfortable with), and so i am seeking for better options.
I would give "home care tips" a bit more time (using non-perfumed bath essentials and baby detergent etc) and see how it works. Natural is always better and helps baby develop its own immune systems

If you want to put some cream on your skin, You can try some cream like "weleda" products that is not contain any chemical material, you try to go to health shop and you can find good one.
and another thing is if your child is diagonised eczema, it's considered lack of essential fatty oil.
and I recommend you read this book, "You don't have to feel unwell" they're introducing natural way(nutrition, Homeopathy) for common ailments.
I hope it helps you.
