    Pre-natal yoga

    Hi,
Can anyone recommend a pre-natal yoga class for a complete novice. Thanks.

    Prenatal yoga

I had a very good experience at Pure Yoga. The teacher in central is more "calesthetic"/exercise" focused, the teacher in Causeway Bay is more holistic/yogini/relaxed stretching. I visited both for a balance. If this is your first child, you may have more flexible time for yourself. I attribute the fact that I had no back issues and felt very comfortable with myself to taking 6 classes/month. I continued with Pure Yoga as my body healed for almost a year, then life just became too busy. There is an Iyengar studio in Central that my friend liked on Wynham St and I also attended a few times. She still attends there for pilates classes as a new mom.

If I have a second child, I expect to organize my schedule to fit a prenatal yoga or pilates class at least once a week.

    Good luck and congratulations.

Thanks everyone. I will investigate the schedules of the classes you have suggested. This will be my third child, so fitting around the other two is obviously a priority.

    Hi Jools,

I also enjoyed the Yogalimbs class. The instructor Wanda is a great believer in using yoga to assist natural childbirth.

There is a woman in DB called Claire who runs prenatal classes Weds lunchtimes in DB at the ballet studio. I have the same problem as you and haven't managed to get there yet! But apparently the class involves a mixture of pilates, yoga and other things. More details from [email protected]

Also have you thought about pilates? I am doing prenatal sessions at Coreability in DB (they are in a studio above the plaza) on Sat mornings. Small classes in twos and threes if you can get a spot. Works all the same parts of the body as prenatal yoga but you don't get the meditation & relaxation... More details from www.coreability.net
