Unhappy Infertility blue.

Hello there!

I have PCOS and have been on Clomid (up to 150mg) for a few months without ovulation. I assume I am not ovulating because my BBT chart isn't showing a shift to higher temperature band. So the next step is probably IUI first then IVF which are expensive treatments. :(

Can anyone please advise me on the cost of IUIs and IVFs per cycle in Hong Kong? Would it be cheaper to have the treatment done in nearby countries e.g. Singapore or Taiwan as I could stay with friends or relatives there? Any good doctor you can recommend?

Your advice is very much appreciated!! Please feel free to write to me directly at sunnysideup2010@gmail.com or post a reply to this thread!

Hi there,

I know exactly what you're going through - I was on chlomid for a year with no results and then I eventually conceived our beautiful son on my 2nd cycle of IUI. The whole experience was an emotional rollercoaster but of course well worth it in the end!

I went to Dr Phillip Ho for the treatment, which wasn't cheap but I highly recommend him. The initial consultation was $700 and each cycle of IUI was about $9000. Once I became pregnant I then had regular scans and lab tests - $600 per scan, lab tests varied in cost. This was 2 years ago so prices may have changed. I think for memory his fee for IVF was in the region of $60,000 per cycle (!!) so I'm glad I didn't have to do that! He is definitely one of the more expensive Doctors but he is also one of the best fertility specialists in HK.

If you want to know more about the proceedure, just let me know. Yes, it was expensive but now I have this wonderful gorgeous little boy and I am so grateful to Dr Ho.

I'm not sure about the cost in other countries. My IUI involved a daily injection of hormones for 10 days straight so you'll have to stay there for that and then obviously your husband will need to be there for his "donation" on the right day. So you might need to consider the logistics of it.

Good luck, I really hope this happens for you too!!

xx

Hi Nuckle,

Thanks for replying to my thread which I haven't revisited for sometime. I am happy to let you know that I am now pregnant!! I up my clomid dosage for the 3rd time and this time it worked, together with some other stuff I was taking e.g. Chinese medicine and Phyto-estrogen etc. I am over the moon coz I didn't have to go thru the whole process of IUI, IVF with potential heartaches and high cost.

Thanks for your advice still and I am happy for you that you have a lovely baby boy who undoubtedly makes you feel wonderful every single day.

Sunny
