Rumpus Rooms
Has anyone been to rumpus rooms yet? Just wondering what everyone else thought of it? I went today for the first time and there was just myself and the little one, and a helper with a little one. Its a lovely cheery looking place, a bit small but its got loads of equipment and toys. The only thing that put me off is that when my girl was playing with the toys the owner(cant remember her name) kept following her and tidying them away. You know what kids are like, they play with a toy for a few mins then move on to the next one....its just didnt make me feel very comfortable that the owner was stressing about the place being untidy. Still...i would go back maybe once every couple of weeks.

I went there just before Christmas and had the opposite experience. We had a real laugh - there were about 6 of us there. The owner seemed really keen for the babies to make as much mess and noise as they wanted. She seemed really nice to me, I know its really new so maybe she's just tying a bit hard. I will be going back next week for sure.

Hi Lima and Keryn,
I'm Tanya and I opened The Rumpus Rooms only 3 weeks ago, so firstly thank you for coming to visit, and I am really glad you liked the place.
It took me nearly 10 months from coming up with the idea to opening Rumpus and I have put my heart and sole into creating a wonderful alternative to lessons for Mums and with babies and toddlers. A place which is fun to be in, where they can make as much mess and noise as they want.
In response to your comment about my being too tidy - I had one Mum telling me off last month about it not being tidy enough and advised me to "keep the hazzards (the toys) tidied away" which really surprised me.
I guess that I am still very anxious as it is so new that I want it to be perfect, that I have now gone too far the other way .... Thanks for pointing this out as it is something I can work on. It is very hard to get the balance right so all helpful advise is welcome.

Tanya,
Thanks for your reply. I remember when we visited there were toys everywhere and D was thrilled. He loved the mess!

Hi There,
Thanks for your interest. The Rumpus Rooms is on the 18th Floor of the Jade Center, 98 Wellington Street. The entrance is in Cochrane Street, about 12m up the hill from the Wellington St / Cockrane Street corner - just under the Escalator.
Basically we are a large soft play center with hundreds of toys from baby gym and twisties for the young babies to ride ons, climbers with slides, a ball pit and building blocks puzzles etc for the older ones.
We are open from Monday - Friday and there are 4 sessions each day, first session is at 10, then 11:30; 1pm then last on is 2:30. At the end of the sessions we all sit down in a circle and sing action songs - wheels on the bus etc. Its optional but most mums seem to like it.
You don't have to book hundreds of sessions, just one at a time on the day or drop in - as we have only just opened we are not massively busy yet so there is usually space. its only $75 each time so won't break the bank!
If you want any more info please do call us (2543 5488). There is a link on this site which goes to our web site.
Happy New Year.
Tanya
