Interglobal covers if you conceive after 6 months on the plan, but covered at 80/20 or 90/10 up to a maximum of about US$8000.

There are two issues with maternity insurance:

1. When will coverage start (the link above is good for that), most companies are 6, 10 or 12 months after you start the policy.

2. Will they cover all costs in FULL. giving birth in HK can be ery expensive if you want private rooms, etc... The policies that have 'limits' or 'caps' will not cover all expenses for a birth in HK - so read the fine print carefully.

Example costs: vaginal delivery, 3 days, private room, Matilda, doctors fees - can be around HKD 100,000. c-sections and emergency issues are a lot more. And this does not include all your pre-natal doctor visits, midwife visits, etc....
So please take care when deciding and be sure to check what is covered and up to what limit (if there is one).

Good luck!

I went to the Allianz website but can't find any local contact.
Are you able to give me the contact no. of your agent.

I am interested to get the maternity insurance from this provider as well.

Thanks

Hi Arwen

http://www.allianzworldwidecare.com/EN/index.php
You can buy from them directly.

Or
Allianz Insurance (Hong Kong) Ltd.11/F, Great Eagle Centre, 23 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong.Phone +852 2521 6651Fax +852 2810 6191E-Mail >hkinfo@allianz.com.hk
Internet>www.allianz.com.hk

Or
you can ask a local agent, like the one listed above, if they can sell you this policy.

Just be sure to get the Worldwide policy NOT the Asia policy as the Asia policy has a limit on maternity coverage.

Ihi

Hi, I have been using IHI since 2002. For my first delivery in 2003, including all pre delivery visits, they covered the cost 100%. I had a private room at Matilda Hospital and it fine with them. They paid in full. However, they do not cover maternity for the first 12 months of your policy.

For now, they were recently taken over by BUPA (2005), and while they want to keep the 2 companies, separate, they have reduced the maternity coverage. If you have their Out-patient (Module 1 ) and Hospital Plan (Module 2), they will cover a normal delivery including all doc visits before, up to USD11,000. For an emergency c-section, they cover up to USD14,000.

Their website is www.ihi.com

Hope this helps.
