thanks everyone ! my friend gave me the Avent Isis manual hand pump which I am using now. i didn't think a hand pump would be effective but it is really really great and I'm expressing more than when I was using the electric pump. worth considering !

Avent ISIS is the best, everyone said. I used the Medela electric before i tried avent ISIS. Avent ISIS is WAYYYYY better. cheap & handy. u can even bring it w/ u when u go out. it fits in your purse. but remember to bring the cover for the avent bottle!! & breastmilk can be kept at rm temp for 8 hrs. (is that right, Sarah?) so just give the milk to your baby right away when u arrive home. =)

    Hi Joannek,
    Thanks for the information.
Is the AVENT ISIS manual or electric?
    Is it available in HK?

    XOX:

yes Avent ISIS is manual. The best!!!! I used it for all my girls. It lasted me that long! 5 years!

I think I saw it in Bumps To Babes, Mothercare, Eugene (in Windsor House). Am I right?

    Hi odm_post,
    Thanks!
But I would need to take it to work and use it during my lunch break. Does it take a long time to get the milk out manually?

Yes, the latest guidelines say that breast milk can keep:

at room temperature (19-22 degrees C) for up to 10 hours

and in the fridge (0-4 degrees C) for up to 8 days.

Some mothers find that they get more milk with electric pumps and others more milk with hand pumps and yet more mothers find that hand expressing is the easiest for them. I think it really depends whichever method you are more comfortable with will give the best results.

Best wishes, especially with pumping at work as I always found it a real drag!

the avent ISIS i used was manual. i heard that there's an electric one now. but extra expensive. so if a manual one work very well, maybe can just buy that.

odm_post, yes, avent ISIS - mothercare, eugene (windsor hse), bumps to babes. if mothercare on sale, then they have the bet deal. if not eugene is cheapest if u r vip.

if u like it, buy 2, so u can express both breast at the same time. in fact, i used to have 3 (they're so not expensive). i used to empty my breasts at night. if i didn't have time to wash themin the morning, i still have one extra to bring out w/ me.
