sterilizer and black grit

I have been using the Avent Sterilizer with no problems until I descaled it. After I descaled it, there has been blackish water and left black grit on the tray and some of the bottles and tops. It is really gross.

I even ran it 2x without bottles after descaling it, and i'd say i've used it about 7 times since.

Has anyone else had this problem?

How often have you been descaling? You might want to run another descaling cycle, as the black stuff is probably the scale coming off. If it has really bad scale then the black bits will be the stuff that's still on the heating element.

agree w/ jools.

i used to descale mine once a week when baby was small (between 1-3mths). If the water source in your bldg is rusted, u need to descale more often. if u live in an old bldg, u probably have to descale more often than living in a new one.

Oh thanks so much! I will descale it again! I've been using it for 3 months now and only descaled it once. And I live in a village house that is old, so I will give it another go!

Thanks!
