    domestic helper hire

Wonder if anyone can help or has experince. We are just going through the process of hiring a domestic helper. I'm due Oct. 7th.
Signed contracts and gone through the paper work immigration requires, but now we are starting to hear somthing about needing to send a copy of the contract to the philippine embassy and how it needs to be stamped by an agency. Is that correct? If so does anyone know how much it costs or an agency we can contact? There doesn't seem to be any clear guidelines for this part that i can find and only know about it throught he helper we are going to hire. Help

Nina, is the helper in HK? If she's here, you don't need an agency and you can do the paperwork on yr own.

The completed green contract (all 4 copies) has to be sent to the Phillipine Consulate first. They'll chop it, takes a day or two. Then submit the contract along with all the supporting documentation to immigration. It takes 4-6 weeks to process.

The helper has worked in HK for about 13 years but has been back in the philippines for the past 6 months - 1 year due to her ill father. So she is coming in on a new visa rather than changing employer. She does still have a HK ID card. Do you think I need an agency chop?

Was she hired thru an agency before? If yes and if she's a direct hire by you then there's no need for an agency chop. I had the same case as you. We were asked though by the Philippine Consulate to present her old agency papers.

Nina, best to call the Consulate and ask them. As she's only been away for less than a year, you may not have to go through an agency.
