did he lose his appetite due to teething? i heard once ur baby starts to move/crawl/turn, they burn off energy more easily. but 2 pound loss is definitely worth an office visit.
    hope everything is fine.

what i no is thaty everybabys centile with there weight is different depending on there birth weight, the 50th centile all the way means perfect groth,if the baby drops weight compared to the rest of the body the centile drops wich is what has happened with my son, thats what has causes me to worry so much,i have read it the babys weight goes below the 5th then to worry!he has a doctors appointment on friday and im also going to get him tested for diabeties as there is alot of family history, also along with the weight loss he drinks huge amounts and wees alot

    good luck at the dr!
i hope that it all goes well.
i've nto heard of babies dropping so much weight only of their weight gain slowing down.

the only reason i asked about the % is that when my son was born, he was in the 2-3%...
by 6 months he was up to 10%
by 9 months it was 25%
    now at 18 months he's 50%

my understanding of the % is different. it's the average height weight of the baby.
so when in the 2-3% there would be 98% of babies his age larger and 2% of babies smaller...that's how it was explained to me anyway.

    good luck!:bighug

A 2lb weight loss is definitely a big drop for a baby.
Has he taken to solids or is he a fussy eater? I can only advise to make sure he’s still taking enough breastmilk/formula in addition to his solids. If he has no food allergies, perhaps include higher calorie/fat foods such as cheeses, yoghurt, dried fruit purees, avocados, and maybe a few finger food snacks in between meals.

As a rule of thumb, most babies double their birth weight by 6 months, and triple their birth weight by 1 year. But you shouldn’t just focus on weight. How is his height growth, physical appearance and does he appear healthy, happy and active?

My son was a small baby at birth (only 6.3lbs) and has been consistently in the lower percentiles. He just turned 1 year and is now 18.8lbs but since he’s only 73cm his weight is good for his height. As expected, his weight gain has slowed down but I still weigh him regularly with my electronic scales at home just to make sure he doesn't lose any weight.

I hope everything goes well at the checkup.
