Wink How to estimate due date?

I am in the 7th week of my pregnancy and already been to see my OB twice for the past 2 weeks and did some scanning. Anyone knows how to estimate the due date from roughly the week of ovulation or the last period?

40 weeks from the last period...

just get a calendar and count...

or check out some of the pregnancy & fertility websites.. they usually have calculators that are free to use...

i even used one to find out what day was optimal for conceiving and guess what... we saved it all up and did it on that day....now i'm almost 15 weeks along!

Yes, its 40 weeks from date of last period or 38 weeks from ovulation but this is usually based on regular periods of 28 days and assuming ovulation occurs around 14-16 days.

My period was every 35 days and I would ovulated around 21 days, so my EDD worked out to be 41 weeks from date of last period.

Having said that, anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks is still normal and only baby knows when he/she's popping out, so be prepared!

Didn't your OB give you an estimated due date? Feel free to ask him/her if you're still unsure.

Thanks for the advice. I will ask my OB in my next visit - actually this coming Saturday :)

Anyone knows if frequent scanning will do any harm to the fetus??

Some studies I've seen have indicated a possible risk, others have ruled it out. I haven't found a good scientific review of the literature as yet, and would like to read one if anyone else has.

So many sites are so biased - you'll find a list of "anti-ultrasound" studies on sites with names like "alternamom", but you won't see the other side of the story - probably eight subsequent studies found they were safe.

Sorry, just found this article, which seems like a good roundup:

From the information I've read, for ulttrasounds to be harmful to the baby, you would have to be using them for hours and hours everyday! One a week, or one every two weeks I believe is generally considered fine.
