mandarin-english primary schools question
Hi,
We are moving to Hong Kong January 3 from New York, and we have a 4 year old and almost 2 year old. My husband and I both speak Mandarin (but not nearly as much as we should at home!) and want our children to learn Mandarin in school as well. Since we are moving mid-school year, we are considering enrolling our older child in Hong Kong Academy or Chekiang and Jiangsu-Intl Section to finish out the remainder of the current school year. We are also looking at Chinese International School for the following school year (no positions available in January). Does anyone have any experience regarding any of these schools for the reception/preschool and primary school level? Any information would be appreciated...
Thanks,
dcdurf

Hong Kong Academy is an English school with just a bit of Mandarin. What about International Montessori, as this is bilingual? Kiangsu-chekiang would probably be your best bet! I think it is a good school and am strongly considerng it myself.

I have the same problem. Want to know which is a good school to learn both Mandarin and English. In Kowloon! I know there are several different ones in HK island, but it will mean that I have to move.
Any suggestions?

Why don't you try Yew Chung Int'l in Kowloon Tong. It's costly but provides strong both langage skills.

My son is studying in Kiangsu & Chekiang International Section, I'm very satisfied with the school. It's worth to try.

You may consider the Independent Schools Foundation Academy (ISF Academy) http://www.isf.edu.hk/ and Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School (PLKCKY) http://www.cky.edu.hk/
The ISF Academy is founded by the Father of Fibre Optics, Professor Charles Kao. The school tuition fee is the highest in Hong Kong excluding those international schools and there is a Capital Contribution Scheme.
Both schools are using Mandarin and English only without Cantonese.
