    Unhappy Baby constipated

    Hi

    Need some advice please....

I have a 2 month old little girl and am breast feeding her topping up with formula (Enfamil).

For the last week or so, she has been really constipated which is making her colicky. She went through 5 days of not passing stool and we have tried various natural things (ie giving her water, massaging her tummy, around the belly button, her back, using a rectal thermometer) but in the end, the doctor gave her a suppository.

The same thing seems to be hapening again - and I would rather not use the suppository although the doctor has said that it is ok.

Does anyone have any other remedies for infant constipation, or any similar experiences to share... This is getting me very worried.

Shouldnt babies be passing stool every other day or so??

    Looking forward to hearing back.
    Thank you.

when we first supplemented using enfamil after exclusively b/f, my baby didn't poo for 5 days either. in the end our paed told us to switch to smartbaby and that seemed to do the trick.

i'd recommend speaking to your paed first before making any switch in formula.

As the problem started when you introduced formula have you considered returning to full breastfeeding again?

Fully breastfed babies are much less likely to have either constipation or colic.

i think it's the formula. try switching to other formula and see how it goes. i have tried Nan I and it gives my baby no constipation. Frisolac is good too.

    Hi

Just as the others, I think the formula might be the cause of your baby's constipation.

Talk with your pead about switching to another one

    Soy Formula?

    Hi all

    Thanks for ur feedback.

She has actually been on this formula for about a month or more already but the constipation has just started now.

I am thinking of changing her to a soy formula as we have asthma in the family and this apparently helps to reduce the chance of her having asthma as well...

Is anyone using a soy formula that u can recommend...

Pediatrician does not think changing the forumla will help but I am willing to give it a shot...

    Thanks
