    Dear Aprilbaby,

I had a friend whose baby girl was still exclusively breastfed and was 28 lbs (12.7 kg) at 8 months – this was off the weight chart, higher than the 99 percentile. But when she was three years old she only weighed 35 lbs (16 kg) – which was about the 80th percentile.

So don’t be worried if your son’s growth slows down more than the norm over the next couple of years.

    Best wishes,
    SARAH

    At one year my babies weighed 18 lbs (8.2 kg), 23 lbs (10.4kg), 22lbs (10.0kg) and 17lbs (7.7kg) – can’t remember what they were at 20 months.

    thanks for all your comfort!!!

yours are quite big... 8 mths 11kg and 16 mth 18kg, unbelievable !!!!!

i just have mine weighed today again, with a pair of quite heavy shoes and a drenched pampers on..9.9 kg.. the bw of my boy was 2.98kg,, which accroding to the who chart, he was on the 25%, and now, goes down to 5-15%...i am not sure if it is normal.

He was exclusively breast fed for the first 6 mths, then solid +BF till 1..then mainly BF+solid and 3-4 formula per wk. (cannot said no to formula due to his good appetite, i sometimes do not have enough bm espeically during my business trip)

    sarah,
how to work out what percentile are we (my husband and I)?

My 15.5mth old is 8.9kg and 75cm tall. He was also a small baby at birth at 2.83kg, and exclusively breastfed with solids at 6mths. I agree that you shouldn't worry too much about the percentiles, look at the overall appearance and whether he appears happy and active.
