just to confirm what my helper on home leave said about not being required to take any assessment tests or language tests if she processed her visa whilst in hk, she arrived home tonight already from a fortnight's holiday in manila and officially starts working with me today.

    good luck to you all!

We just hired our helper but heard nothing about this new rule. Our helper arrived a week ago with practically no hitch! This a new (direct) hire for us but she was in HK previously working for a dif employer who terminated her contract early. I processed everything with the Philippine Consulate and HK Immig in about 6 weeks' time and sent her the visa/documents about 2 weeks ago. Originally we thought she would have to be in Manila (from her home village) longer to process the POEA training/medical etc. but the POEA told her that b/c her prev contract terminated early (i.e. she had done all the medical/tests/training/fees etc. for her prev job which was less than 2 years ago), she didn't need to do any of it this time. So she was able to come to HK in less than a week after receiving the documents I mailed her. Our helper told us she only had to pay a total of 100 pesos for some mbrship fee and that was it!
