My second son (2 yo) has a bear which he carries everywhere with. Fortunately, he allows us to give it a bath (in the washing machine) now and then. It's getting a bit worn, but I have recently found and bought 2 identical bears from eBay hoping that they can be replacement (a) should his current one become completely worn out (b) in the unfortunate but possible event that his current one is lost.
Fingers crossed!

My 19 months old girl has a pillow (made of the husk of bean sprouts). We made a few of these pillows and changes it on major occassions (i.e when she vomits). But we change the pillow case everyday for hygiene purposes.
She is quite attached to her pillow but will only ask for it when she is sleepy. When she wakes up, she will say "bye bye pillow" before leaving the bed.
