    Smile German song

    Hello,

My 19-month-old daugther Edelweiss always listens CD. She enjoys a CD from Vienna Forest Boys Choir recently. She tries to sing a song 'Brutherlein fein' recently. My husband was so surprised and said that she can sing extremely well at her age. Does any body know this song and can send me the lyrics. In fact, I know very few German. What is this song about? Thank you very much

I think you are looking for this:
(if you want I can translate it for you)

    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    Mußt mir ja nicht böse sein;
    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    Mußt nicht böse sein.
Scheint die Sonne noch so schön,
    Einmal muß sie untergehn.
    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    Mußt nicht traurig sein.

    Brüderlein fein. Brüderlein fein,
Sag mir nur, was fällt dir ein?
    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    sag, was fällt dir ein?
Geld kann vieles in der Welt,
Jugend kauft man nicht ums Geld.
    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    's muß geschieden sein.

    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    Zärtlich muß geschieden sein,
    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    s' muß geschieden sein.
    Denk manchmal an mich zurück,
Schimpf nicht auf der Jugend Glück.
    Brüderlein fein, Brüderlein fein,
    Schlag zum Abschied ein.

    Dear Mootje,

Thanks so much for the lyrics. I have tried to search the words in dictionary. However, it took me half an hour for a line and yet I still don't know what's the meaning. I really need your help to translate it. Thanks again.

The translation is more or less that:

Brother fine, brother fine, meaning nice brother
    Don’t be mad at me;
    Brother fine, brother fine,
    Don’t be mad at me.
    The sun is shining nice,
But she has to go down.
    Brother fine, brother fine,
You don’t have to be sad.

    Brother fine, brother fine,
Tell me, what is in your mind?
    Brother fine, brother fine,
Tell me, what are you thoughts?
Money can do so many things in the world,
Youth you can’t buy with money.
    Brother fine, brother fine,
    It has to be splinted.

    Brother fine, brother fine,
    We have to split tender.
    Brother fine, brother fine,
    We have to split.
    Think sometime back at me.
Don’t be asset of the youth luck.
    Brother fine, brother fine,
Give me your hand to say goodbye.

    Dear Mootje and Buffybuff,

Thank you very much! It's really a good song, my daughter will know what she is singing about. I would consider to let Edelweiss learning German later.

    German Playgroup / classes

    Hi there,
Don't know if you are still looking for a German playgroup and where you live.
There used to be one in Mid-Levels, which has just moved to a fantastic language school in Central, fees are very reasonable. They also have a small German library and even offer homework support for older kids, as well as classes for adults. You may want to check it out.

    Dear Birgit,

Does the German playgroup in Central cater for kids from one year old?

Please kindly let me know their contact/address.

    Many thanks
