    Confused!

Oh, I'm confused now. I had read the Mamas and Papas blurb about grobags and they recommend using the 2.5T when the nursery is in the recommended temperature range. I figured I will use the air con. to maintain the recommended temperature all year round, so figured I only need the 2.5T.

Also, they recommend that the baby should weigh at least 10lb before using a grobag (and I'm hoping my baby won't weigh 10lb at birth, right)! I will be eager to get my baby in a grobag as everyone seems to swear by them as they're so easy.

    Any feedback appreciated.

My understanding about the "correct" (UK standards) is a room at 18 degrees celcius. I discussed this with the health visitor in Hong Kong, as it seemed a ridiculous waste of electricty and unhealthy the have the air-con that cold. At the time we lived in an old apartment and the coldest I could get the room to was 20. She felt that was fine, but the best way to judge is really by observing the baby and feeling how hot they are. We didn't start using gro-bags until my son was 3 months, until that point he was happy to be tightly swaddled in a single cotton sheet. I plan to use gro-bags while he remains in a cot, as it prevents him from being able to climb out.

i've also used grobag when baby was 3 mths old. before that we swaddled her. i've known ppl who use grobag at birth. grobag brand do have 0-6mths size. yes, the recommendation for rm is 18-21C, which is nearly impossible to keep in HK. i usually put the air-con to 21C. but you still have to check whether it's windy or not. so have to use much mother's common sense in this respect. even so, keeping the rm air-con at 21C in the winter & in the summer feels totally different to me. when with air-con, i use 2.5 in the winter & terry sleepsuit or fleece, and in the summer, light cotton sleepsuit.
