I looked through some past threads about finding a child friendly dentist, but it seemed like all the ones mentioned were outrageously expensive. I'm curious, do all of those dentists only work in the private sector? Dealing w/ insurances etc? Or if I give them my ID card, will that lower the costs?

The dentist I currently see only charges $300 and that is for checkup, cleaning, and even an x-ray! But he is not someone that I would feel comfortable taking my dd to, and so am looking for someone else. I would really prefer not to pay more than $300 for an appointment. And we don't have health/dental insurance, so I can not afford to go to one that charges $900 or something like that.

My dd is nearly 4 yo and I have not taken her to a dentist yet, but really need to.

Any advice?
