Feedback on SIS's Preparatory Years?
Dear Parents,
Please do provide me with some feedback if your kids are attending preparatory year 1 or 2 in SIS currently. How do you find the teachers, the curriculum, environment, fun factor, student mix, etc. Any comments are welcome....... Really appreciate any response.

Hi. My son is currently in SIS PY1. He seems to enjoy school and is more outspoken than before. His mandarin has improved quite a lot (SIS PY mandarin classes are relatively good). They have performances, show & tell, class parties, swimming lessons (optional but you have to pay for them)... However be expected for weekly written homework. Generally the teachers are warm and friendly. What I dislike is the school hours 12pm to 3pm. Everyday my son has to take his lunch at 10am coz the school bus will pick him at 11am. I have to make sure that he's taking enough to last him till he gets home at 330pm. He takes snack in school at 130pm but the snacks are rather miserable, a banana or an orange or a bun or a piece of biscuit. In fact he's so tired of eating the same snack, so sometimes he didnt take any at all. By the time he reached home he would be screaming for food! Im really looking forward to PY2 which has better school hrs 800am - 11am. At least he can take his time to enjoy his lunch and have his nap as well.

Hi Princess,
Really appreciate your response. I am having this big struggle whether to apply for SIS PY1. Cos, it will mean uprooting from where I am staying now. While I like my daughter (she is 3.5 years old now) to have loads of fun in her childhood, I kind of felt it is important to develop her intellectually too. I do find that she is not learning much in her current pre-school. Hence, it will be great that SIS provide fun and great learning at the same time. Is it too late to apply now for the Sept 2007 academic year? Also, how many students are there in your son's class?
Cheers,
AuroraLady

Hi. If you are going to put your child in SIS then it'd definitely be better to move to Hk side. otherwise your poor child has to waste a lot of time on the road. In fact we were supposed to stay in Kowloon coz hubby works there, but got to stay put in HK as it's much easier for my son. You can try calling Helena from SIS(sorry I dont have her no) to check if there's any vacancy. However there's usually a waiting list for the PY prog every year. FYI, your child will have to go for an interview before the school accepts her. However you can try to submit your child's progress report from her current school, so that she doesnt need to go for the interview.
Anyway Im going to register my daughter (2 1/2yrs) in PY1 next year.Hope to see you around!
