Ghosh or someone else?
I decided on Ghosh b/c several of my friends raved about him.
However, we didn't realize I was carrying twins until the third visit. At my fourth ultrasound, I asked Dr. Ghosh whether I was carrying identicals since the amnions were so close to each other. He said no, and then a minute later he told me maybe..and then he said yes.
I am a little worried about this - has anyone used Ghosh as OB for twin pregnancy? I feel awkward to ask him how many twin pregnancies he's encountered, but in the back of my mind I do wonder whether I should switch to someone more specialized in multiples, esp. after he told me identicals weren't possible and changed his position..
I also asked him about TTTS and he refused to discuss it until the second trimester - is that a good thing or a bad thing - his reasoning was that if I find out too many of these risks I will never sleep well and it's not good for anyone... But carrying identical twins, I know I have 1/3 chance of encountering TTTS, and it can happen as early as 15wks, isn't it a good idea to discuss upfront?

Dr Ghosh identified my twins at the 6 week scan. I switched to a different doctor in the end because I found it impossible to get appointments with Dr Ghosh and needed to speak to someone (i was pretty freaked out when I discovered it was twins and didn't ask all the things I should have, then couldn't get an appoointment with him again for weeks).
He's got a very good reputation for sonography (apparently teaches it at the University!)
I have a friend who's just had twins and Dr Ghosh was her Dr, if you PM me your email address I can pass it on to her for you if you like.

Hi there,
Dr Ghosh identified my twins at the 5/6 week scan as well and said that they are non identical. But it does get more and more difficult to see the further along you are.
I'm still only 19 weeks (due 28 November) but I've been very happy with Dr Ghosh so far. I know that he's specialised in high risk pregnancies and that he's handled many twin pregnancies but not how many. I have flexible working hours so have not had any problems with appointments.
What is TTTS?
When are you due by the way?

If you want someone who specialises in difficult or 'not normal' births/pregnancies, then you shoudl try Lucy Lord.
Basically, I get the impression from many stories that if you have a run-of-the-mill pregnancy, maybe she is not so interested/sympathetic. But if you have anything out of the ordinary (and twins would qualify!) then you should see her.
I had a difficult pregnancy and birth - she ended up referring me up to the high risk clinic at QMH, but continued to see me every month for a private check up. She was sympathetic, informative and happy to answer any questions. She has some quirks - but her waiting room is well run, and her administrative and nursing staff are very helpful. She is busy, but I never felt that she was rushing me - just very efficient.
There was one visit where by blood results indictaed strong likelihood of a stroke. Lucy was 100% in top of everything, managed my care in a professional way.
On one occasional, I was given confliting medical advice, and she returned my phone message very quickly.
Honestly - I had 100% faith in her ability and her judgement: which is really what it comes down to - doesn;t it?

I just had twins with Dr Ghosh and had such a good experience that I almost (but not quite!) would consider getting pregnant again just to have him as my Dr.
PM me if you have any questions about him.
Good luck!
