Kcis
Hi mommies,
Anyone heard of KCIS (Kiangsu & Chekiang International School)? Is it good? Any comments?
Thanks!

KCIS has a bad reputation amongst NETs hired under the EMB NET Scheme. It's definitely listed as a school not to go to if you are a teacher. Could be very different if you are a student. However, in general, where there are happy teachers, there are happy students.

Hi,
As far as I know KCIS doesn't have NET teachers, it's an international section of the main KCS and so all the teaching is done in English by the class and subject teachers.
KCS will have NET teachers as it's main medium of teaching is Putonghua.
KCS (main section) and KCIS (the international section) have different teachers, management etc.

Any English teacher in many schools especially the DSS or "local-international", graduate or not, trained teacher or not and not local is referred to as a NET (even at a tuition centre) if they are teaching English. The term is now broadly used everywhere. So yes, they do not hire NETs like the EMB NET Scheme. But NETs in the sense that they do hire Native English Teachers from overseas.
But Beckyboo could be right. KCIS could have a reputation more intact than KCS as the management is different.Last edited by spockey; 06-27-2007 at 04:16 PM.

My son has been going to KCS (main stream) for about a year and will be promoted to K2. His English teacher is NATIVE English teacher from UK. While lots of my friends's children in ESF kindy, their English teacher is LOCAL and TA is Filipino. KCS is a great school. My son can now speak FLUENT mandarin and English as his mother tongue. I dont know about KCIS.

I used to work at KCIS and loved it. It's a very good school as is the main section.
