    When Does Doctor Come?

I will be giving birth at Adventist in Oct.

I was wondering when, in the birthing process (natural, not caesarean), does the doctor come? I know that a doctor's time is very precious, and they won't come until the birth is imminent, but when do they come? When fully dilated?

I gave birth in the Adventist last October. My doctor came to see me 3-4 times during the time I was in labour - induction began at 8am. Towards the end when I was 10cm dilated, the midwife called him and he was there within 10 minutes and stayed until the baby was born.

    Hope this helps.

I guess it depends on the Dr. I was admitted at around 9am. Dr came to check on me at around 11am, put me on the drip to speed things up. He went for lunch and then he sat outside at the nurses station until the mid-wives confirmed I was fully dilated and he came in to deliver the baby.

I also gave birth at Adventist. The Dr. came for induction at 8a.m. and then did not come again until just before the birth at around 2.30p.m. when fully dilated. The midwives usually keep the Dr informed of your progress.

Same here when i gave birth at Adventist in March. Could hear the midwives be given instructions for induction, etc on the phone with the dr, but dr only came in early morning for the checkup and right before delivery in the afternoon.
