    Why is that?
Using ceramic will lead to breakages, surely?

My 20 month old has this habit of carefully carrying a cup/plate to the kitchen, walking very slowly and deliberately, holding the item with two hands, then launching it into the sink from a distance of about 3 feet! Needless to say it only happened once!

My daughter is 9 months old and already she has perfected the art of dropping her sippy cup when she is not interested in drinking water or she's playing. She thinks it's a good game to play with Mummy!! So I don't plan to introduce ceramic cups.

Okay, i got this from the book
    Internal cleansing By Linda Berry.
Stanford Uty and Uty of Granada found bisphenol-A in the plastic coatings that manufacvturers use to line metal cans.A high conct was found in canned foods as artichokes, peas, corn.(this stuff is cancer producing)They also found the same stuff in nonsticky pans. Some positive steps that is mentioned are

1.Avoid microwaving food in plastic containers or with microwave plastic wraps.Rehaet in ceramic or glass containers.

2.Avoid overheating plastic juice and water containers(keep them out of hot cars and sunlight).buy juice and water in glass and bottoles.

So i thought this must apply to sippy cups. The very reason i asked.
How do u guys clean the sippy cups?I used to boil it in water. Now i just warm it but i dono if its enuf.

Do pen in what u guys feel.

Blimey, if you're going to try to eliminate plastic from your household - good luck!!

Why stop at sippy cups? What about the bottles, pacificiers, teethers, etc?

I've heard this debate that chemicals leak from some plastics and are unsafe for you and baby. Apparently, you can buy from manufacturers who confirm products are made from plastics that don't contain phthalates. bisphenol-A is a new one on me. You can buy glass bottles, but I still don't see how you can avoid breakages.

Let us know what you decide and how you get on...
