Taking helper to US

Anyone have experience in this? I know the visa for taking a helper to the UK is $3,000 something.
If I want to take my helper to the US, what kind of visa do I need/do I need one at all?
I could call the US consulate, but they are notoriously unhelpful and it costs $10 a minute, so I thought I'd ask here first.
Thanks.

Helper will have to apply for a US visa same as with any other person not-exempted (which means for most nationalities). Best to check the US Consulate website and you will be able to see the requirements.

you can get all forms and information from the US consulate website.

they also have a page with info specific to getting visas for domestic helper. so do a search on that phrase. the appointments are also done online now.

my helper failed the application (we tried 2 times)... but she's only been with us for less than a year and that was the main reason for the rejection.

we were lucky with our application. be sure to include a letter stating that you are aware of the employment laws of that particular state (i.e. working hours and minimum wage), and that you are responsible for her airfare, lodging, all expenses, etc.

Go to the American consulate website, and fill in the form online and you could even book an appointment for her. We was really lucky, she have a 2 years multiple entry visa.
