I wrote a long reply to a post a few days ago. When I hit the 'Submit' button, I saw a message that the site was down for an hour or so for upgrades.
Presumably, upgrades are scheduled, so please tell us about them beforehand!
I couldn't be bothered to retype my message.

Upgrades aren't always scheduled. If things breakdown unexpectedly we need to act ASAP.

Aha! So, it was a 'breakdown' rather than an upgrade! Big difference in my book.
