the convenience of everything. getting baby's stuff from Aussie, UK, USA & Japan. no need to stock up cos the city runs 24/7.
the mixture of kids from different culture our children are able to grow up with. my daughter goes to school with children from all over the world. there's only 8 in her nursery class - besides her (we're chinese), there's 1 chinese, 1 chinese/japanese, 1 korea/scottish, 1 indian, 1 french/spanish, 2 americans, 1 from the middle east. the mixture is amazing!! the ability to embrace people from different cultures.

Great thread, well done Neha!
For me it has to be the spirit and vitality of the people - the "can do" positive attitude, nothing is impossible or too difficult, and most of the time don't with great warmth, care and professionalism....something I admire very much and would love my children to pick up in life!

nice idea for a thread Neha!
HK is small and easy to get around.
Workwise if you work hard you can make a success of yourself.
Easy to fly to anywhere else in the world.
Low salary tax.
NO sales tax (VAT etc.)
Wide variety of restaurants and food to eat.
I live here. (hahaha)
The Peak Tram is breathtaking (everytime I take it, I'm in awe)
Multicultural friends
Cheap public transport that's also convenient
HK Citizens are known for longevity!
Great shopping malls
Great beaches
Great cinemas
Disneyland (excellent for little children!)
Lets hear what others think, so I'll shut up now :)

Neha, this is great! In every city, there's always positives and negatives. With my job here, it's a lot less stressful and with work and life balance, I find that I'm able to have a life here more than before. We're adopting a child here and the process here is much quicker. I'm able to meet up with my friends here a lot more than before. I've taken more vacations and I have more time to myself. But this is probably all related to my work. And there's a variety of shops to go and also a little cheaper as well

HK has so much going for it. Some things I really like about the place are:
-the convenience of everything (shops open everyday of the year from 10-9, in Oz you had to get all your shopping done before 6 or something except for night shopping on thurs)
-its multicultural society
-ability to hire domestic helpers to helpout (my sis in Oz works harder than my domestic helper here, doing the housework and raising 3 kids all by herself)
- the freedom to do alot of things
- low crime rate
- beautiful beaches and hills
- Victoria harbour
- you can get things pretty cheap in HK (if you know where to look)
- proximity (both in terms of location and politically) to PRC, which will be one of the, if not the strongest economy in the world in the next 5-10 years' time
- good jobs are relatively easy to come by
- low tax rate
- locals are generally polite and easy to get along with
Each country has its pros and cons. It's easy to just think of the cons and forget about the pros. But when I sit down to think about HK, I find that the pros outweigh the con so I'm staying put here.
