I think the dosage in that GNC tells you to take 2 tablets per day. But we only take one per day.

The problem with all these non-medications (from an American medical mpoint of view) is that there haven't been many scientific studies done on them and they are not examined by the FDA. So dosage is also rather problematical.

I asked my OB about fish oil supplements during pregnancy as I don't eat any fish myself. She prescribes a brand called mumomega, which is specifically for pregnant women. I've also seen it for sale at 360 in Elements. I was told to stop taking it at 34 weeks.

Some doctors/OBs will be pro-supplement and others won't be. Any idea why it would be good for 33 weeks, but not in the end? Our doctor still has our 17 month old on it. (And we adults also take it.)

The reason to stop taking fish oils at around 34 weeks is that the omega-3 fats can actually have a small blood thinning effect. Therefore, there is a very very small increased risk of extra bleeding during delivery. My OB says I can take the fish oils again after delivery and during breastfeeding. Similarly, if pregnant women are prescribed a low dose of aspirin (which also thins the blood) then OBs usually advise to stop taking it at around 34 weeks.

Ahhh, see, a reason for everything. Our doctor recommends Nordic Naturals.
