Due in March 2008

New to Geobaby thought that I'd start a thread for the 'due in March 08'. We're expecting our 1st baby, a girl, on the 10th! Currently 21 weeks and nervous but excited!

Would love to start a group of mums to be based in the New Territories. Anyone else expecting in March and live out this way?

Also chosen to go government and booked in to the Prince of Wales. Was told by friends IF there was any complications I would probably end up there anyway. Have we done the right thing?

Hi Self, congratulations! I'm a week behind you - due March 18 - and it's our first baby as well.

I've gained more than most, I think - I'm 8 kilos more than non-preg but despite the weight gain, I've only just starting to show in the last couple of weeks (and getting random congratulations from ppl at work and in the streets!). I'm told that I'm carrying "high" so it's not as obvious. How about you?

(Unfortunately I'm in the Midlevels so not based in NT. I'm delivering at the Matilda.)

Hi peainpod, congrats to you too!

Not sure how much weight I've gained but I hardly showed until recently. Colleagues & friends seemed disappointed that I wasn't very big! I'm not sure what they expected! But now I've got a difinate bumb they can't help but touch it, it's quite funny.

Having problems with leg cramps at night at the mo which is a little frustrating.

I was born at the Matilda, great hospital! Have they told you much about what's going to happen at the birth? Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself - I'm a bit of a worrier.

Congrats self and peainpod. I'm 20 wks now and due around 25th March. It will be my second and last one. My first is a boy and I am now carrying a girl. They will be 20 months apart.

With my first I had an easy pregnancy but with this one I had nausea, headaches and fatigue. So are you guys feeling your baby kicking inside you now - I felt mine at 17wks.

I've started to feel a bit of kicking (well, more like fluttering) but it comes and goes. They say you feel it more at night when you're settled down in bed b/c during the day, the baby is lulled to sleep by the rocking motions from our daily activities.

What are your thoughts on prenatal classes? My dr seems to think it's a good idea but I'm not convinced that it will be all that useful. Especially if I have a c-section and a post-natal pui yuet (confinement nurse) to help me with the baby.

What do you think?

Hi peainpod,

Same with mine more kicking in the nights.

I think the prenatal classes I went for my first were good and informative. They go through from pregnancy to birth and afterwards, exercising, bathing your baby, breastfeeding, bottlefeeding, what signs of rashes to look out for etc... I guess if you are getting a puet yuet then you might not need to go as you can learn from her.

Anyway, I gave birth at QE and they also held similar classes and I went to a breastfeeding class whereby you take your baby with you to feed and the baby bathing class where they used a real baby to demonstrate.

Hi all, I am due on 19th, delivering at Sanatorium. I am starting ante natal class this Wed at Canossa (as it will be in English). I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Yes, I feel my baby fluttering..have felt them both during the day and night. I also have cramps mainly on my thighs. Try drinking more milk..my DR said I don't have enough Calcium..and am also taking Calcium supplements.

Peainpod - Do you know other pui yuet available? I am thinking of getting one..but I heard most of them are booked already.

Hi Lieny,

Abuut the pui yuet, I can't think of anyone off-hand but I can my pui-yuet to see if she has any recommendations. But do you speak Cantonese? (Most pui yuet's don't speak English so may be of limited help otherwise.)

Pls let us know how your first antenatal class at Canossa went. I am thinking of signing up there as well but am still undecided.(I'm due almost the same time as you so I should sign up soon if I decide to go for it!)
