    Salary, $3480 a month (minimum)
    Levy, $400 a month
    Insurance, $550 a month
Transport costs (depends where you live and how much travelling around HK you will expect helper to do)
Food (up to you. She can eat your food or you can give her money for her food)

Really? You pay $550 a month for insurance? What does it cover?? I paid $550 A YEAR for DH insurance! (Actually it was a 2-yr pckg for $1100, so it basically covers the DH contract period.)

insurance should cover the bulk (if not all) of the cost. but you have to be sure to follow restrictions as listed in the terms (in panel, out of panel doctor etc.) we've never had too much trouble claiming for doc visits etc.

who do we go for insurance? Oh u mean we pay the insurance and she will get like a card or something for her to see a panel of doc as and when she's sick? Does the agency help to arrange this for us?

    agencies will usually offer insurance

and $550/month is VERY expensive. we took the expensive deal for our helper, so that it included dental as well... i think it was $750 for a year!

Did any of u send your helper for a medical checkup? The reason I'm asking is that since we have a very young toddler and a baby on the way, I would feel better if she gets an all clear for her health.
Could someone recommend me a clinic which you have sent your helper to and how much is the checkup package?
Thank you very much for your input.
