Looking for non-live in Helper

Hi,

I am looking for a non-live in helper (obviously the legal way - which means they will have to have an HKID or is a local resident in HK).

Does anyone know of agencies or contacts who can provide these services?

Basically, the helper will come in like regular work hours 9AM-6PM sort of deal and do whatever is necessary around the house.

Lisa

No, I am not sponsoring a helper and I don't think my situation would suffice for not having enough room in my space to do out of house boarding.

I prefer someone who is already in HK.

cilia, yes she CAN do that. BUT it is illegal. she clearly states that she doesn't want to do it the illegal way.

personally, i think the live-in rule is ridiculous, especially with the size of hk flats, but that's another thread altogether.

There are quite a few agencies:

I also believe that the government retrained some people to do housework but I'm not sure how you go about hiring them.

You can contact the labour dept who have many domestics looking for work. However, at around $60/hour, you'll be paying well over that of a FDH. If you want 7 hours a day for, say, 27 days (Sundays off), that's a whopping $12,000 and some change.

Having said that, you could probably negotiate a lower monthly salary but anything over $5,000 and you have to pay MPF, etc, etc.

Good luck.
