18 months old sleep in toddler bed?

Hi moms,
my daughter is 18 months old, we are moving in a couple of months. I'm wondering if I can change her to a toddler bed for the new house? But she tosses and turns a lot during sleep and she wants to climb out of bed in the morning. If not now, then when?
Thanks for any of your input.

i moved my son into his real bed when he was 13 months old. he's only fallen out of bed twice and he's almost 3. HOWEVER, it was a REAL challenge to keep him in it both at bedtime and in the morning, for about 6 months. after that he's been great!

HI Carang,
thanks for your reply. May I ask how do you keep him in the bed? Do you have to watch him sleep and check him out a lot? Thanks!

he doesn't fall out of bed, rather he gets out of it.

now, i check on him once (about half an hour after bedtime) and then once again before I go to bed myself.

we never got rails or anything on the sides of the bed, we took the matress out of the cot and then placed it alongside the bed, so that if he fell he wouldn't hurt himself.

i plan on keeping my second in her cot until at least 18-24 months.
