Macau with kids

We are thinking of spending a weekend (one night) in Macau with our 2 year old and 7 month old. I haven't been since all the new casinos opened. Anything fun to do with kids there? What hotel would you recommend? I heard the traffic is horrible and its hard to get a cab. Is it true?

We last went to Macau just before our son was born (over 16 months ago) and it was the first time I had been since the casinos had been built....I have to say I don't like it as much.

It use to be great for a quiet getaway....somewhere in contrast to the noise etc. of HK...but now Macau is just busy, busy, busy with tourists, traffic and construction!!!!

If you are not into casinos and gambling I wouldn't go.....I mean you still have the same old buildings, restaurants etc. but am not sure how much appeal they would have for children.

The Westin resort is geared for kids but for is a bit of a trek just for one night.

We have recently been to Macau with our 5.5mth old daughter and stayed at the Venetian. They have shuttle buses running from the ferry terminal to the hotel which are free. The hotel is soooo huge that it took us all afternoon to get round it! We didn't venture outside of the hotel though. Well worth the visit though.

we went on jan 1st for one nite and stayed at the venetian. it was excellent. kids love the gondola ride and there are tons to eat at the food court. we did fisherman's wharf within 1 hr and was able tohead to macau tower on the same day. we had a great time...no traffic. venetian has a shuttle to fisherman's wharf for free.

We have taken our son twice and it was fun. It is the only place we have seen swings in a public park. We did not go to the casinos but toured the old town section, great day trip.
