Thanks to all for sharing the valuable info. But, do you also go to local libraries to borrow books for your children? I am not in HK yet, so forgive me if this sounds really stupid.

We only have a library van in Discovery Bay and the selection is not that good, so no we' don't use the library. It's one of the few things I miss about home.

The HK Central library in Causeway Bay is terrific for kids. Huge Children's section, story time and even a toy library. The Library system over here is quite good. If your district library doesnt have a specific book, they'll get it for you from one of the other districts and you can return the book at any library in Hong Kong. You're issued a library card (or you can use your HKID to borrow books) which you can use to borrow books from any library in HK. Here's the link http://www.hkpl.gov.hk/eindex.html

We intend on taking our little one to the causeway bay one when he's older...assuming I've taken care of my overdue fines in the meantime :P

I have found in my local library (Ngau Chi Wan) the kids' fiction in English section is better than the adult fiction in English.

You can also (for a HK$3 charge, I think) order books from other branch libraries to be delivered to your local library. You then get a note to come and pick them up.

I just went to the Page One today in Central, and they are having a sale because that branch is closing, so most books are 40% off.
