Private Health Insurance Recommendations

We'll be moving to HK in August, family of 4 (one 4yo and 20 mo twins, by that time). We would like private health insurance. No need for maternity coverage (I am done). Basically for doctor's visit, specialists, hospital stays and other emergency events. No pre-existing conditions, healthy family, vaccinations for the kids are completely up to date so most of them are done. We'll be in the Tai Tam area.

Any recommendations which companies to look at?

How much should I expect to pay?

TIA!

Hi Mom2Sofie&Twins,

Would recommend you contact Pacific Prime

http://www.pacificprime.com/

Bupa International is pretty good, William Russell has raised their rates but is also good. Our family is currently insured with Healthcare International. We haven't submitted any claims yet so I can't comment on their service yet.

Thanks a lot. I had found a few older threads but didn't know how accurate they still were.

We have the IHI Danmark family health insurance plan with Healthcare International. They are very efficient and I highly recommend it. Our plan covers maternity as well, but for any major illness and hospitalization anywhere in the world we are covered 100%.

I'm currently looking at Manulife. They have an interesting product where you can add certain coverages on a modular basis. Additionally, this plan also can be linked to an investment plan which your children's names can be nominated.

I haven't decided yet wether to buy straight health insurance or this newer type plan.

We have been with Manulife before but after research we found that AIA had the best coverage and better investment options for the money.
