    Adoption support groups

    Hi

I'm not sure if anyone can help, but here goes....

Does anyone know if there are any support groups for people such as myself embarking on the adoption process here in HK please?

    Thank you
    CeeCee

    Hey CeeCee,

I'm in the process as well. What stage are you in now? It's always nice to have support from people going through the same process.

    Hi Rani And Sunnie

Thanks for your messages; it's good to know that I'm not alone.

We've only just started the process, our first briefing session is going to be in July, so quite a way to go yet. After many, many years of wanting a child, I can scarcely contain myself. I'm trying not to get carried away with it all until later on in the process.

    Thank you so much

We went for our first briefing session in Sept last year. I do have to warn you that it is a long process and the welfare department is quite meticulous as well. But all in all, I do believe that it is worth it as you're going to be providing a loving family for the child. Be patient and do your homework and understand what to expect for in an adopted child and parents relationship.

I do know that it is a meticulous and lengthy process.

When you've wanted to have children for nearly a decade and have endured many, many failed ivf attempts, the decision to adopt was not one that my husband and I took lightly.

We went for our first briefing last September and tomorrow, we'll be handing in the last of the required documents, hopefully and then homestudy will begin. We're really looking forward to it. Wish you luck. Hopefully things will fall into places for you!
