I did the Annerley baby massage course in April starting when my baby was 2 months old. We both really enjoyed it but when they're that young they only want to be massaged for 5 - 10 minutes at a time before they start to cry. So I spent much of the course just watching and learning the techniques so I could practice at home. I think 4 months would be a perfect age to do the course as your baby will allow you to massage them for much longer. My little boy is 3 months old now and he enjoys being massaged for up to 20 mins or so most days.

Thanks for the feedback Eva about the age of your baby and the course. I've been thinking about the massage courses too, but wondered if my bubs was too young still (only nearly 5 weeks old).

I was thinking of going to either the YWCA, Annerley or Matilda for the course. But I think I will wait now until bubs is a bit older. Will still like to hear feedback on the other courses if anyone has done them.

Are there any courses where the instructor can come to your home and teach you?

younger babies are ok for massage too ... maybe easier. Older child become a bit more difficult as they advance in their motor developments (i.e. rolling, crawling). A lot of the postnatal classes offer sessions for mothers to massage their babies after birth.
