Great Ultra sound doctor.

    Hi

    I was told by my ob that the 4D scan to be done by 20 weeks so that they would be able to check if the baby is normal and make sure there is no abnornality.

    In case if there is anything wrong they would have more time and option to disucss it with the parents. Sorry I was so blunt and straight forward

    I think most abnormalities, they can screen for fine on the 2D ultrasound at 20 weeks - I actually had TWO of them done, and it's a lot of measuring the internal stuff - bone sizes, kidneys, the chambers of the heart. I think that for that, they MUST use 2D because they're looking at cross sections. I don't think that 4D does cross sections, only external features...

    I actually had my 4D done today (at 31 weeks) and it's all surfaces that they can see. EVERYTHING else, they still used 2D for all the internal stuff...

    i had my 4D done a month ago. I was about 24 weeks pregnant then.
