normally colic starts at 3rd week and ends about at 3 months.

no idea how long infacol begins to work as we used to carry him and use gripe water but what u have described it looks to be colic

The midwife thinks it might actually be reflux.

I am trying to cut out all gassy foods from my diet to see if that has an effect. We've also been giving her Colief, just to see if it is a lactose problem. The first day she was great and I thought we had solved it! But sadly she is back to being upset, so I think it was just a coincidence.
The next step after seeing if my diet changes have an effect will be seeing about reflux medicine.
    Thank for your help!

it takes more than one day for almost every medicine to work...you need to give it more than one day to see if that is the actual problem.

We've kept her on the Colief but only saw an improvement the first day. She's also still taking the Infacol.
We're going to finish the bottles before completely giving up!

sounds like reflux to me. My gal had reflux AND colic so i can tell the diff. Colic for her didnt end at 3month, it peaked when she was about 3mths++ going on 4mths. And she really did jus cry and cry for 3hours, started right on the dot at 5pm up till 8pm (when she slept out of sheer tiredness, i think). Reflux, she will be arching her back in pain, regardless of the time of the day, and will calm down when held upright.

Like Fennho, our son had both colic and reflux. It was awful, for everyone. He would cry all night long and feeding was a nightmare. I remember my doc telling me to try and go as long as possible between feeds because the feeding made things worse but of course he wanted to feed because the sucking gave him comfort. I also eliminated all dairy. Things didn't get better for us til he was 5-6 months old.
