    Question Goat's Milk

Does anyone know where in Hong Kong I can buy Meyenberg Goat's Milk (condensed or powdered) or an equivalent?

    Hi,
sorry, don't know the brand you mentioned. But I use Holle or Karihome. It's both powder. The Holle milk you can buy at BtoB, City'Super and maybe 360, the Karihome you can get at City'Super. Both are definitely not made in China....Hope that helps. Has anybody ever seen fresh or at least UHT goats milk in Hong Kong?

Thanks Veronica? Okay, where is 360 (I never shop there) and Bumps to Babes? I guess you could say I'm not a "high end" food store shopper but I'll go where I need to to buy the goat's milk. :0) Thanks!

    Hi,
you can also order the Holle products online. Try http://www.fifty50.com.hk/
They still don't have the products on their website but if you contact them they should be able to help you. It used to be free delivery for orders HK$300 or above - no problem with the Goat's milk, it's quite expensive. The Karihome is less
    expensive, the Holle is organic.

    Hi Veronika,

When you say that the goat's milk is expensive, how expensive do you mean? Here, it's a bit pricey but comparable to buying formula. For example, I use an evaporated canned version of the milk and per can it's about 21-30 HKD per can but a can makes about 24 ounces of milk which is a little more than what my son drinks per day. The powdered version of the milk is the same price as well. How do the Karihome and Holle milks compare?

    Hi MLBW,

I do not really know the difference between "evaporated canned" and "powdered". Sorry. Karihome and Holle both come as powder that you mix with water like formula.
    Does that help?

You can get Karihome 900g can for about HK$250
and Holle 400g pack for around HK$ 170

I did some calcs for you and the result is that 24oz of milk
cost HK$ 30 for Karihome and HK$ 47 for Holle. So you shouldn't be too shocked by Karihome.

If ever you find fresh Goat's milk in HK, please let me know!

    Hope that helps,
    Veronika

less than a year ago you could buy fresh goats milk (from Australia) at GREAT food Hall in Pacific Place.
It was expensive. About $70 a litre from memory. I was happy to pay that much at the time.
If each of us ask them if they will start stocking it again and they can see a demand for it they might go for it....
